If you have a York mini-split that’s failed or is failing, and you need installation of a replacement part or a full unit swap, we can help. We stock York-compatible mini-split components on our trucks, and a typical installed repair or replacement in Miami runs $175 – $765 depending on the part, with full system installations ranging $4,130 – $8,850. Most Miami homeowners discover a problem the hard way: the unit runs but doesn’t cool, it freezes up, or it starts dripping water onto a floor that was dry yesterday. That’s usually the moment you realize a York mini-split isn’t something you want to guess at. Victor Mancini, who owns Cold Harbour Heating and Air Miami, has seen enough failed drain pumps and fried control boards in South Florida condos to know that the right part, matched to the right York model, saves everyone a second visit.

Which York Models This Applies To
York mini-splits in Miami come in a few common lines: the York LX series (single-zone and multi-zone), the York HMH7 and HMH9 heat pumps, and the York Affinity and YV series ductless units. The installation parts we most often handle across these lines are the evaporator blower motors, condensate drain pumps, control boards, inverter boards, and the copper line set fittings. Here’s the compatibility gotcha that trips up a lot of Miami homeowners: York heat-pump mini-splits (the HMH7 especially) use a specific inverter board that is not backwards-compatible with the older York LX boards. If your unit was made before 2016 and the inverter fails, you need the exact replacement board for your model number, not a generic one sold as “York compatible.” Before you order anything online, check the data plate on the side of the outdoor unit. It lists the exact model number, refrigerant type, and electrical specs. York mini-split model numbers typically start with “YV,” “HMH,” or “LX” followed by a series of digits for the BTU rating. For example, a York HMH72B3621S is a 36,000 BTU heat pump. That BTu number matters when we’re matching a blower motor or condenser fan: a 9,000 BTU wall unit and a 36,000 BTU wall unit do not share the same blower wheel. As for OEM versus aftermarket, our experience in Miami is this: for anything that moves or fails often (drain pumps, blower motors, capacitors), a quality aftermarket part from a known supplier is usually fine and costs less. For control boards and inverter boards, we always recommend OEM York. The aftermarket boards for York mini-splits are hit or miss in South Florida humidity, and a board that quits in two months costs more than the OEM board you should have bought the first time.

Signs Your York Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- The unit runs but doesn’t cool. This is often low refrigerant from a slow leak at a flare fitting, which is a York installation issue, not a manufacturer defect. In Miami’s salt air, those copper flare connections corrode faster than they would in drier climates, and the unit loses charge over months.
- Water dripping from the indoor unit. The condensate drain pump is the single most common York mini-split installation failure we see in Miami. It’s an inexpensive part, but when it quits, water runs down your wall. In a condo on Brickell Avenue, that’s water running into a neighbor’s ceiling.
- The unit freezes up, even on hot days. A frozen evaporator coil usually means restricted airflow (a dirty blower wheel or a clogged filter) or low refrigerant. On York YV series units, we often find the blower wheel has accumulated enough Miami dust to stall it.
- The outdoor unit is noisy or rattling. A failing condenser fan motor or a loose compressor mount will rattle first, then stop entirely. If you hear a grinding sound from the outdoor unit, shut it off and call us. Running it only turns a $200 fan motor job into an $800 compressor replacement.
- The unit won’t turn on at all. In Miami, power surges during summer thunderstorms are brutal on York control boards. We replace a lot of boards in August. The good news is that a board swap is usually a one-visit fix.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what a York mini-split installation repair or replacement actually costs in Miami, with parts and labor included:
- Condensate drain pump replacement: $175 – $320
- Blower motor replacement: $265 – $485
- Condenser fan motor replacement: $230 – $420
- Control board replacement (OEM York): $310 – $585
- Inverter board replacement (OEM York): $450 – $765
- Full York mini-split system installation (single-zone): $4,130 – $8,850
The part itself dictates most of the range. A drain pump costs us less than $100 wholesale and takes under an hour to swap. An inverter board costs significantly more and the installation is more involved. Every job comes with the written price before any work begins, which is how Cold Harbour Heating and Air Miami has operated since 2003. We hand you the price on paper, you approve it, and the technician starts only after you’re clear on the number. There’s no surprise at the door.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things you can safely check before you call. First, check that the filter is clean. A clogged filter is the cause of a surprising number of Miami mini-split failures. Second, check that the outdoor unit isn’t blocked by leaves, furniture, or construction debris. After that, we’d recommend you stop. York mini-split systems run on 240-volt electricity, and opening an outdoor unit or a wall-mounted head means exposing live terminals and charged capacitors. A capacitor can hold a charge long after power is cut. Not the thing to learn on a Saturday afternoon. The other reason to call us is diagnostic honesty. Half the time the problem isn’t the part the homeowner guesses it is. We’ve gone to homes where the owner already ordered a $300 blower motor online, and the actual fault was a $12 capacitor. That’s an expensive guess. Call (850) 810-1910 and tell us what your York unit is doing. The estimate is free, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
FAQs
A properly installed York mini-split should last 12 to 15 years in Miami, though the salt air and constant humidity near the coast can shorten that to 10 or 11 years. The installation itself usually outlasts the parts. Drain pumps fail first, usually between years 4 and 7. Inverter boards are the next common failure. The compressor and the copper line set are the longest-lasting components. A clean installation, with properly flared lines and a properly pitched drain line, makes a real difference. Call (850) 810-1910 if you want us to look at an aging York unit before it fails during a Miami heat wave.
Most failed components on a York mini-split are replacement items, not repairable items. A failed drain pump or blower motor gets replaced, not rebuilt. A control board or inverter board is a swap, not a solder job. The line set and flares, which are the installation components themselves, can sometimes be repaired by cutting out a bad section and re-flaring, but only if the copper is in good shape. In Miami, corroded line sets on older units usually point to a full replacement. Call (850) 810-1910 and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Most part replacements on a York mini-split take between 45 minutes and 2 hours. A drain pump is quick. A blower motor takes a little longer. A control board or inverter board swap is usually a 1 – 2 hour job once the part is in hand. If you have an older York model that isn’t common in Miami, we may need to order the specific OEM board, which can add a day or two. We’ll tell you that at the estimate.
We stock the York-compatible parts that fail most often in Miami: drain pumps, blower motors, capacitors, and the common control boards for York LX and HMH series units. We also carry parts compatible with Carrier, Trane, and Lennox systems. If you have an uncommon York model or a heat pump requiring a specific inverter board, we’ll source the OEM part from our Miami supplier, usually within a day. Call (850) 810-1910 and give us your York model number. We’ll tell you right then whether we have the part on the truck or need to order it.
If your York mini-split is down and you’re tired of running fans, call us at (850) 810-1910. We’ll give you a written price, a firm arrival window, and a guaranteed repair that’s good for a full year. Tell them the price, show up on time, back the work, everything else takes care of itself.
