Ductwork repair on a Carrier system in Miami typically runs $175 – $600 depending on how much duct has failed and how hard it is to reach. We stock the common Carrier-compatible fittings, collars, mastic, and flex duct sections on our trucks, so most repairs are done same-day in a single visit. You’ll usually notice the problem before you see it: a room that never cools evenly, a spike in your FPL bill, or dust accumulating around certain vents faster than anywhere else in the house.

Miami’s humidity punishes ductwork harder than the heat itself. Sweating ducts in attics that hit 130°F in August breed mold inside the insulation, and once flex duct gets waterlogged, it sags and separates. What starts as a small air leak becomes a full duct disconnection within a season or two. When a Carrier system’s ducts fail, the equipment still runs fine. It’s the delivery system that’s bleeding air into the attic.
Which Carrier Models This Applies To
Ductwork isn’t model-specific the way a control board or blower motor is, but the installation details change depending on what Carrier equipment you have. The Infinity series (24ANA1, 24ANB1, 25VNA8, and similar) moves higher static pressure than the Comfort or Performance lines, which means duct connections need to be sealed properly or the system will whistle and the ECM blower will work harder than it should. If your condenser outside says “Carrier Infinity” on the data plate, we’re particular about the sealing method on every joint.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Miami homeowners run into: Carrier air handlers and furnaces have specific plenum dimensions, and the ducts connecting to them use either R-6 or R-8 insulation values. South Florida code requires R-8 minimum on new duct runs, but plenty of older Miami homes still have R-4.5 or bare R-6 duct from the 1990s. We can match either when repairing, but if a section has failed and we’re replacing more than a few feet, we’ll recommend bringing it up to R-8 for the humidity and heat load we deal with down here. Cold Harbour Heating and Air Miami is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Carrier Corporation, and we also work on Trane and Lennox duct systems the same week if that’s what’s in your home.

Signs Your Carrier Ductwork Repair Is Failing
- One room stays 6 – 10° warmer than the rest of the house. Air is leaking from a separated duct joint or a crushed flex run before it reaches that register. The blower is moving the right volume, but it’s not arriving.
- Your electric bill jumped $40 – $80 in a month with no change in thermostat settings. Conditioned air spilling into the attic means the system runs longer cycles to hit the same setpoint. In Miami summers, that adds up fast.
- Dust or gray fibers collecting around one specific register. The inner liner of aging flex duct tears, or a rodent chews through it, and insulation particles start blowing into that room.
- You hear a faint flapping or whistling near the air handler. Loose duct tape failing at the plenum connection lets air escape under pressure. The noise changes with blower speed.
- Mold smell in the first few minutes of a cooling cycle. Condensation is pooling inside a sagging duct section, and that moisture is being pulled across the coil every time the system starts. In Miami’s wet season, this progresses quickly.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Carrier ductwork repair in Miami, small targeted fixes, like resealing one separated joint or patching a small tear, usually run $175 – $300 including labor, mastic, and materials. Replacing a failed 10 – 20 foot flex duct run lands in the $300 – $500 range, and if multiple runs need replacement or a plenum fitting has to be rebuilt, it can reach $600. The price you get from us is the price you pay: Victor Mancini and the whole crew follow the Kingswell pricing standard, so the written quote is handed to you before any tools come out, and it doesn’t change at the door.
Every repair, from a single taped joint to a full trunk line repair, includes the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the repair fails within that year, we return and make it right at no charge. That’s not verbal. It’s on paper before we leave.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s one thing you can safely do yourself: walk the accessible portions of your attic with a flashlight and look for obvious disconnections, hanging flex duct, or black streaks of escaping air at taped joints. That information helps us zero in faster. What you shouldn’t do is crawl into a tight Miami attic in August and start pulling apart duct connections. Attic temperatures reach 130°F and you’re working around fiberglass insulation, potentially sharp metal plenum edges, and electrical runs. A two-hour DIY attempt often becomes a four-hour professional cleanup when a section gets torn worse or a connection gets knocked loose.
If you’ve already found the bad section and just want it done right, call (850) 810-1910 and we’ll get you on the schedule with a real arrival window.
FAQs
In Miami’s heat and humidity, flex duct and duct sealing typically last 15 – 25 years depending on attic conditions, while hard metal duct with good insulation can go 30 years or more. Condensation, pest activity, and humidity in unconditioned attics accelerate wear, so duct systems here often fail before the Carrier equipment they’re attached to.
Yes, in most cases. Separated joints can be resealed, torn sections patched, sagging runs re-supported, and crushed flex duct swapped out in sections. Full replacement is only needed when widespread corrosion, chronic water damage, or mold has compromised too much of the system to trust. Call (850) 810-1910 and we’ll tell you honestly which side of that line your ducts fall on.
Most single-run or joint repairs take 1 – 3 hours from the time we arrive. Multiple replacements or plenum work can run 3 – 6 hours, and we’ll give you that estimate up front with the written price.
Yes. We carry common flex duct sections in R-6 and R-8, mastic, collars, takeoffs, and sealing materials specific to Carrier’s plenum and air handler dimensions. If a repair needs a nonstandard fitting, we source it same-week and schedule accordingly.
If your Carrier system is moving air but the house isn’t cooling the way it should, the ducts are usually where the diagnosis starts. Call (850) 810-1910 for a free estimate, and we’ll give you a written price before anything gets opened up. Tell them the price, show up on time, back the work – everything else takes care of itself.
